Quick Q&A with Mom Business Owner Heather Holtschlag:
What’s one of your favorite business books, and what was the key take away?
The Power of Nothing by Barbara Zerfoss.
When you have nothing to start, you don’t have anything to compare it to or be judged by. You literally start with nothing, so you can achieve and do whatever it is that you want. There are no high standards to meet.
Favorite business quote?
“When someone tells me ‘no,’ it doesn’t mean I can’t do it, it simply means I can’t do it with them.” - Karen E. Quinones Miller
If you can only leave one piece of advice to your children, what would that be?
To be independent and to trust their own instincts. To not follow the crowd and to believe in their own actions. To e confident and to be their own person.
What’s the one business tool you use that you cannot live without?
As a freelancer, I am always at a client’s or editor’s “beckon call.” That’s how I earn my living. I try to always be there for them...whenever they need me...even if it’s just to answer a simple yes/no question.
Mom Entrepreneur Challenge:
Turn your electronic devices off at 6 p.m. every night. Take that time to focus on fmaily dinners, each other, getting homework done. Whatever happens after 6 p.m. can wait until morning, when you feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
